According to the information given in Europa press, one of our collaborators from Global ANSWER and the president of the Andalusian Council of Professional and Official Social Work Colleges, Eva María Juan, signed an agreement on February 13, along with the Councilor for the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue, and Administrative Simplification, Antonio Sanz. This agreement includes social workers in the emergency plans of Civil Protection in Andalusia.

Among the participation lines of this agreement is the integration of professional colleges in the development and implementation of civil protection plans. In this agreement, the aim is to improve the care of people in emergency situations from a social perspective, providing a comprehensive and inclusive response, going beyond alleviating symptoms.

The agreement will last for four years, with the possibility of being extended for another four years. It also includes the creation of a monitoring committee to periodically evaluate the fulfillment of established milestones.

According to Europa Press, Antonio Sanz emphasized the importance of social workers in emergency situations, as they can intensify the "social vulnerability" of individuals.

The agreement also involves the inclusion of social work teams in logistical and social support groups, mobilizing them through the emergency coordination center. Additionally, there is a proposal for training in social care for professionals dedicated to emergency response and the implementation of campaigns to raise awareness among the population about the existence of this social care service in emergencies.

Thanks to the work and intervention of Eva María Juan and her team, despite previous collaborations between 112 and the Andalusian Council of Social Work, this agreement highlights the importance of a crucial and vital role in addressing emergencies, which had long been overlooked by the majority of society, the social workers.

Global ANSWER congratulates our colleague for her daily work within the project and for helping make the profession of social work more visible and accessible to the general society and thus who may need it.
