The Global-ANSWER expert network will hold a seminar this Friday at the University of Granada to discuss and analyze social inclusion policies in Europe, focusing on the reception and support of individuals seeking international protection. The seminar will take place in the Concepción Arenal Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Social Work (López Argueta, 2) and will be
moderated by Professor María Teresa Gijón Sánchez, a member of the coordinating team of the Global-ANSWER Project.

The event will begin at 9:00 with an opening address by the principal investigator of the project, Professor Belén Morata, welcoming all attendees and providing an overview of the Global ANSWER project on comparative studies of international mobility. This project is one of the initiatives in the field of Social Work with significant support and funding from the European Union (European Commission H2020).

The first presentation of the seminar will be delivered by Carlos Aránguez Sánchez, a professor of Criminal Law at the University of Granada and one of the prominent practicing lawyers in Granada dedicated to this field of study and work. Aránguez will speak about the penal measures used to combat the victimization of migrants, focusing on Spanish criminal policy and the need to standardize a European "corpus iuris," a kind of unified legal manual for the entire EU.

Following a short break, the morning session of analysis, reflection, and debate will continue with a roundtable discussion on the challenges and opportunities in providing assistance to individuals seeking international protection in Europe. This forum will consider the perspectives of various experts from universities, institutions, and entities specialized in the protection of migrant individuals.

Participants will include Daria Mendola and Ignazia Bartholini from the University of Palermo in Italy, as well as representatives from local organizations and associations such as Sonia Sahli from the Engranajes Association in Granada and Belén Arranz from Diversidades Acolle in Vigo. Representatives from OXFAM Italy, including Maria Nella Lippi, Andrea Botazzi, Giulia Salvini, Zanobi Tosi, and Sabina Morosini, will also be present.

Finally, the event will conclude in the late morning by assessing the challenges and opportunities posed by mobility and migration within the European Union, with a special focus on Spain and Italy as particularly sensitive and strategic regions due to their geographical location as entry points.
