Maria Stella Rognoni

Maria Stella Rognoni is an academic with a long career as a researcher and professor specializing in the History and Institutions of Africa in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Florence, as well as a collaborator in the European project Global ANSWER.

 

Professor Rognoni's research work encompasses studies on the bipolar confrontation in India and Africa, as well as the complex processes of decolonization. Currently, her research focuses on the international relations of contemporary Africa, with a particular emphasis on the roles played by international organizations and the dynamics of relations between African states and "emerging" powers.

 

She has produced a wide range of publications, including works such as "Cosa resta del 1956: speranze e paure a sessant’anni dalle prime indipendenze africane" (What remains of 1956: hopes and fears sixty years after the first African independences), among others.

 

In addition to her contribution to the Global ANSWER project, Professor Rognoni is also involved in the HumanEuroMed project, furthering her commitment to interdisciplinary research and international cooperation in the study of the impact of academic work transcends the academic realm, and her work has contributed to the understanding and analysis of the historical and political processes that have shaped the African continent.
