The University of Florence team of the Global-ANSWER network has taken part in ScienzEstate 2025 with the initiative "L'accoglienza tra immagini e parole", organized in collaboration with Universidad Pontificia Comillas. The event has taken place on 16 September 2025 at the Social Sciences Campus of the University of Florence, as part of the city's renowned science festival.
The initiative has invited participants to explore the theme of hospitality from a dual perspective, combining the power of visual expression with the depth of storytelling. Through images and words, the UNIFI and Comillas teams have created a shared space for dialogue, reflection and encounter, encouraging audiences to rethink the meanings of welcome and inclusion in contemporary contexts.
The initiative has been part of the activities that UNIFI and Comillas have carried out as members of the Global-ANSWER network, a Horizon-funded project led by the University of Granada that has brought together European universities and organisations to share knowledge and good practices on human mobility and social work.
By engaging students, researchers, social workers, and the broader community, the event has reflected the core mission of the Global-ANSWER network: fostering interdisciplinary conversations and promoting innovative, human-centered approaches to social challenges. At ScienzEstate 2025, hospitality has not only been discussed—but experienced as a practice of connection and shared humanity.
