Volcanic activity is a factor for landcape building and causes a great impact on human beings and the natural environment. For this reason, the study of volcanoes is very important in hazard and risk assessment, as well as in mitigation planning.
The project focuses on volcanoes that have not erupted in recent times, are considered dormant, but have had powerful historical eruptions and are also located near large urban centers, therefore they are particularly dangerous. Thus, the necessity for a paradigm shift from response to anticipation in the study and monitoring of such systems.
Long-dormant volcanoes with highly explosive past eruptions are particularly dangerous and frequently disproportionately impact vulnerable and marginalised societal groups.
